Kremlin Expresses Hope for Continued US Envoy Visits Amid Ukraine Talks
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Russia hopes such trips will continue, while noting that no specific timing has been finalized for any upcoming visit. He added that details would be shared once decisions are made.
“We hope that these trips will continue,” the spokesperson said. “We can’t say exactly when it will be (taking place) right now, but as soon as we decide, we’ll let you know,” according to reports.
His comments followed reporting suggesting that informal discussions related to potential peace efforts have continued in recent weeks, even as US envoys have also been focused on other international issues, including developments involving Iran.
The same reporting indicated that discussions may include possible future travel plans by US officials to both Russia and Ukraine, although it noted uncertainty over timing and conditions required before such visits take place, according to reports citing individuals familiar with the process.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner have previously traveled to Moscow on multiple occasions, including a visit earlier in January alongside other members of the US delegation, according to reports.
